Genesis 15:13 – “And he said unto Abram, Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years;”
Acts 7:6 – “And God spake on this wise, That his seed should sojourn in a strange land; and that they should bring them into bondage, and entreat them evil four hundred years.”
Abrams offspring starts with the birth of Isaac, who was born in 2100 AH. We have to count 400 full years for the Exodus to happen: 2100 + 400.0 = 2500 AH.
- Note: Isaac was 60 years when Jacob was born (Genesis 25:26b – “and his name was called Jacob: and Isaac was threescore years old when she bare them.”). Jacob was 130 years when he arrived in Egypt (Genesis 47:9 – “And Jacob said unto Pharaoh, The days of the years of my pilgrimage are an hundred and thirty years: few and evil have the days of the years of my life been, and have not attained unto the days of the years of the life of my fathers in the days of their pilgrimage.”). So the people of Israel stayed in Egypt for: 400 – 60 – 130 = 210 years.
